Surface Chemistry Class

Surface Chemistry, Nanoscience, & Materials

What is this class all about?

You will have several options to look at the class content:

  1. Running a power point. (I try keeping these below 10 MB, typical are 5 MB)
  2. Looking at a pdf file of the power point which includes detailed written notes. (Below 2 MB)
  3. Running the power point and looking at a separate text file with the written notes. (Below 1 MB)
  4. Running a media file which includes the power point and a voice recording. (I will try to keep this below 20 MB = 2 min downloads)

It's your choice.

Required Software

This depends on what choice you made in selecting the presentation style of this class. As a minimum requirement you would need a pdf reader which is free software. The free PDF reader can be obtaind from the Adobe website, here is the link. Power Point presentations include written notes, i.e., the presentations are more than just power point even if you use only the pdf files.

The media file (power point incl. voice) can be saved in various formates. Let me know what your favored one is. Perhaps I can accomodate you. In exceptional cases I can provide a CD.
So far I use the MP4 data formate since it leads to the smallest files (for example the same presentation as a windows media file amounts to 20 MB while MP4 results in 7 MB.)

To listen to the voice recording you would need a mp4 media player (or equivalent software). The Windows Media Player, and the free VLC player both play mp4 files.Click Here for a free download of the VLC player. Downloading of 10 MB with a high speed connection requires less than 2 min.
Otherwhise: in exceptional cases I can provide a CD.

Power Point (typically part of Microsoft Office) would be usefull but it is not really required.
The mp4 files include all animations and a voice recording.
